Former National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party<\/strong> (PDP), (South-West), Eddy Olafeso, has stated that committed members of the party are desirous of moving ahead despite plans to \u2018kill\u2019 the party.<\/p>\n Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that Olafeso made this statement on Friday during an interview on Arise Television, stating that some people want the PDP dead.<\/p>\n Olafeso, reacting to the controversy surrounding the PDP National Convention scheduled for November 15 and 16, raised the concern that there is an agenda to turn Nigeria into a one-party state.<\/p>\n He said, \u201cThey have tried in every way to push the PDP aside, but the PDP will continue to fight and will prevail. A new beginning awaits our party.<\/i><\/p>\n \u201cIt is deliberate and intentional to stalk and to make impossible our convention because they are not desirous of moving ahead. They want the party dead and the number of very happy people and committed party members are desirous of moving ahead.<\/i><\/p>\n \u201cOur constitution is clear as how to resolve matters and to ensure that when there are differences. The party members come together. The party has an executive, the National Working Committee, NWC, the Board of Trustees, BoT.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the PDP to suspend its national convention <\/b>scheduled to hold this weekend in Ibadan, Oyo State.<\/p>\n Delivering judgment on Friday, Justice Peter Lifu ruled that the convention must be put on hold until former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, is allowed to obtain a nomination form and participate in the chairmanship contest.<\/p>\n Justice Lifu held that evidence before the court showed Lamido was \u201cunjustly denied the opportunity to obtain a nomination form\u201d for the National Chairmanship position, contrary to the provisions of the PDP Constitution and its internal regulations.<\/p>\n The judge emphasised that the party has a constitutional obligation to provide a level playing field for all members.<\/p>\n He declared that political parties must \u201ccreate opportunities for their members to serve by putting deliberate measures in place to enable them to realise their aspirations.\u201d<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a9 2025 Abia Radio News, a division of Tee Global Innovataions.
