Former Attorney General of the Federation and Ex-Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has officially declared his intention to run for governor of Kebbi State in the 2027 election.<\/p>\n
Malami promised to tackle insecurity and revive the state\u2019s struggling agricultural economy.<\/p>\n
He made the announcement during an interview with DCL Hausa on Monday, expressing confidence in the strength of his political support across the state.<\/p>\n
\u201cINEC guidelines don\u2019t permit mobilisation yet, but when the time comes, you will see that the people of Kebbi are with us. I have agreed to contest, and there is no retreat. God willing, we are going to win. We won\u2019t disappoint those who believe in us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The former AGF criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing it of worsening conditions in the North and leaving farmers vulnerable to insecurity. He lamented that bandit attacks had forced many farmers from their land, severely affecting food production.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday, rice mills that operated for two decades have shut down because of bad policies that favour foreign companies,\u201d Malami said, faulting both state and federal governments for what he described as \u201cnegligence and policy failure.\u201d<\/p>\n
He explained that his ambition is driven by a desire to \u201csalvage Kebbi State,\u201d restore security, rebuild the agricultural sector, and protect the welfare of residents, insisting that his campaign is \u201cnot for personal gain but a rescue mission.\u201d<\/p>\n
In July, Malami resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).<\/p>\n
