A faction of the Board of Trustees of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) loyal to factional National Chairman Nafiu Bala,<\/strong> has dismissed the David Mark<\/strong>-led coalition as an illegal structure backed by a rival leadership.<\/p>\n Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that the factional BoT Secretary, Rufus Ekenmi,<\/strong> stated this during a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, accusing the coalition of \u201csneaking into the ADC\u201d and attempting to destabilise the party.<\/p>\n Ekenmi condemned what he described as a deliberate plot by some high-profile political figures to hijack the party under the guise of forming a coalition.<\/p>\n \u201cSome individuals illegally sneaked into the party in the name of a coalition, infesting the ADC with the political spirit of insubordination,\u201d<\/em> he declared.<\/p>\n The faction said it would not recognise or cooperate with the coalition group being championed by former Senate President David Mark.<\/p>\n The factional BoT further mandated Bala to activate the party\u2019s disciplinary committee against any member found engaging with notable political leaders aligned with the coalition.<\/p>\n The list includes former Vice President Atiku Abubakar,<\/strong> Labour Party\u2019s Peter Obi, former Rivers governor Rotimi Amaechi, former Senate President David Mark, ex-governors Nasir El-Rufai, Rauf Aregbesola, Liyel Imoke, ex-ministers Abubakar Malami, Babachir Lawal, and former Imo governor Emeka Ihedioha.<\/p>\n Ekenmi said such interactions amount to aligning with a parallel leadership structure.<\/p>\n Reacting to his BoT endorsement, Bala vowed to uphold the ADC constitution and lead the party with fairness and objectivity.<\/p>\n He accused members of the coalition of violating the party\u2019s constitution by operating from a parallel secretariat.<\/p>\n \u201cOur party constitution unambiguously stipulates that only registered members in good standing are entitled to party privileges, including access to official premises,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n He maintained that any attempt to create a secondary power centre within the party would be resisted.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a9 2025 Abia Radio News, a division of Tee Global Innovataions.
