{"id":237634,"date":"2025-11-25T17:00:58","date_gmt":"2025-11-25T17:00:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.name.ng\/news\/2027-adc-denies-rift-over-atikus-registration\/"},"modified":"2025-11-25T17:00:58","modified_gmt":"2025-11-25T17:00:58","slug":"2027-adc-denies-rift-over-atikus-registration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/2027-adc-denies-rift-over-atikus-registration\/","title":{"rendered":"2027: ADC Denies Rift Over Atiku\u2019s Registration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">\n<p>The African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Tuesday dismissed reports suggesting that former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, was improperly registered as a party member in Adamawa State.<\/p>\n<p>The clarification was issued in Abuja by the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, who insisted that the party had \u201cno dispute whatsoever\u201d regarding Atiku\u2019s registration at Jada 1 Ward, Jada Local Government Area.<\/p>\n<p>Atiku formally joined the ADC over the weekend, marking a major political shift ahead of the 2027 general elections.<\/p>\n<p>Following Atiku\u2019s declaration, reports emerged claiming that he had not registered with a properly constituted ward executive.<\/p>\n<p>A statement credited to the ADC\u2019s Director of Media and Public Affairs, Christopher Okechukwu, alleged that Atiku\u2019s registration was invalid because it was conducted by persons not recognised by the party\u2019s national leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Okechukwu was quoted as saying,\u00a0<em>\u201cThis registration was conducted through individuals who are not recognised by the ADC\u2019s National Headquarters and therefore lack the authority to register new members.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe have consistently urged Mr Abubakar to complete his registration with the duly constituted and authentic party executives in his locality, a step he has yet to take.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>But reacting sharply, Abdullahi dismissed the claims as false, saying the individual credited with the statement does not exist in any ADC structure nationwide.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe person quoted in that report is unknown to the ADC at any level and does not exist within our structures, registers or leadership organs,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n<p>He stressed that the national leadership had not raised any concerns about Atiku\u2019s membership status.<\/p>\n<p>He further stated, <em>\u201cThe national leadership of the ADC is not in any doubt, and no one authorised to speak for the party has said anything close to what was reported.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Abdullahi also cautioned that the publication of such unauthorised statements could mislead the public and erode confidence in institutions recognised by both the party\u2019s National Executive Committee (NEC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).<\/p>\n<p>He warned that weakening viable opposition parties could endanger Nigeria\u2019s multiparty democracy.<\/p>\n<p>Abdullahi added, <em>\u201cThe publication of such unauthorised statements not only misleads the public but also brings the integrity of the media to question.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><!-- CONTENT END 4 --><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<p><span class=\"copyright\"><strong>\u00a9 2025 Abia Radio News, a division of Tee Global Innovataions.
