{"id":237771,"date":"2025-11-30T15:28:40","date_gmt":"2025-11-30T15:28:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.name.ng\/news\/2026-adc-denies-picking-candidate-for-osun-poll\/"},"modified":"2025-11-30T15:28:40","modified_gmt":"2025-11-30T15:28:40","slug":"2026-adc-denies-picking-candidate-for-osun-poll","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/2026-adc-denies-picking-candidate-for-osun-poll\/","title":{"rendered":"2026: ADC Denies Picking Candidate For Osun Poll"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">\n<p>The African Democratic Congress (<strong>ADC<\/strong>) has dismissed claims circulating on social media that it has already selected a candidate ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.<\/p>\n<p>The party\u2019s National Publicity Secretary, <strong>Bolaji Abdullahi<\/strong>, in a statement on Sunday, described the reports as false, misleading and not traceable to any official ADC communication channel.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cADC does not hand-pick candidates, and no individual has been selected ahead of the primary process,\u201d<\/em> Abdullahi stated.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the party had already announced the official date for its Osun primaries, adding that the ADC remained committed to internal democracy and due process.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the viral claims stemmed from unverified posts and publications, not from any official ADC channel.<\/p>\n<p>Abdullahi stressed that no aspirant could be regarded as a candidate until the party\u2019s authorised organs conduct the primaries.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cUntil the primaries are conducted by the party\u2019s authorised organs, no candidacy is valid or recognised,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson assured party members and the public that all aspirants would be given a free, fair and level playing field.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe ask the public to disregard any and all such reports,<\/em>\u201d Abdullahi added.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in Jalingo, former Vice President <strong>Atiku Abubakar<\/strong> declared that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is positioned for major political advancement ahead of the 2027 general elections.<\/p>\n<p>Atiku, who completed his formal registration as a party member last Week Thursday in Yola, Adamawa, made the statement public in a post shared on the social platform \ud835\udd4f, on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The former Vice President shared photographs of himself receiving his ADC membership card alongside a customised Waziri 01 branded jersey, a gesture that added colour and symbolism to the brief event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that the registration ceremony, though short, pulled in a visible crowd of party leaders, community figures, youth groups, and loyal supporters across Adamawa.<\/p>\n<p>Highlighting the party\u2019s widening national reach, Atiku pointed to ADC\u2019s grassroots consolidation across regions. Reaffirming the ongoing nationwide movement, he wrote: \u201c<em>Yesterday, the <strong>ADC train made a stopover in Jalingo<\/strong> for the unveiling of the Taraba State secretariat of the Coalition Party.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThere\u2019s no stopping the ADC; it is heading your way.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Earlier on Wednesday, the publisher of Ovation magazine, Dele Momodu, implored key opposition figures to form a strategic alliance with former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, describing the move as a necessary \u201crescue mission\u201d for Nigeria.
