{"id":237772,"date":"2025-11-30T17:39:38","date_gmt":"2025-11-30T17:39:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.name.ng\/news\/crisis-rocks-aregbesola-camp-as-adeoti-quits-group-amid-adc-gov-tussle\/"},"modified":"2025-11-30T17:39:38","modified_gmt":"2025-11-30T17:39:38","slug":"crisis-rocks-aregbesola-camp-as-adeoti-quits-group-amid-adc-gov-tussle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/crisis-rocks-aregbesola-camp-as-adeoti-quits-group-amid-adc-gov-tussle\/","title":{"rendered":"Crisis Rocks Aregbesola Camp As Adeoti Quits Group Amid ADC Gov Tussle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">\n<p>A former Secretary to the Osun State Government and a close ally of the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), <strong>Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola,<\/strong> Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, has formally withdrawn from the Omoluabi Progressives, a political group he co-founded and served as its Deputy Leader.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abia Radio News<\/strong> understands that Adeoti announced his exit through a letter dated November 30, 2025, addressed to the group\u2019s chairman in Osogbo, Osun State.<\/p>\n<p>In the letter titled \u201cLetter Of Withdrawal From Omoluabi Progressives,\u201d Adeoti wrote:\u00a0<em>\u201cI, Alhaji Moshood Olalekan Adeoti, the Deputy Leader of Omoluabi Progressives in Osun State, hereby tender this letter of withdrawal from the group, which I co-founded with other Progressive-minded individuals across the state.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>He added:\u00a0<em>\u201cThis also includes my complete withdrawal from all the group activities henceforth.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Adeoti noted that leaving the group was a difficult decision each time he considered his <em>\u201cinvestments into ensuring the survival of the group throughout its turbulent period from its inception till date.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>According to him, family pressure contributed significantly to the move, especially calls from \u201cboth immediate and extended\u201d family members urging him to take \u201can immediate short rest from all political activities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He expressed gratitude to members of the group \u201cfor the level of trust reposed in me\u201d and wished the current leadership success in its future endeavours.<\/p>\n<p>Speculations are that Adeoti\u2019s exit may be connected to reports that a former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, <strong>Dr. Najeem Salaam<\/strong>, had emerged as the ADC\u2019s preferred choice for the 2026 governorship race.<\/p>\n<p>Salaam was reportedly selected at a meeting in Lagos on Friday, where he allegedly defeated Adeoti in an informal vote.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the ADC\u2019s National Publicity Secretary, <strong>Bolaji Abdullahi,<\/strong> has <strong>dismissed reports that Salaam had been picked<\/strong> as the party\u2019s governorship candidate.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, Abdullahi described the claims as<em> \u201cfalse and misleading,\u201d<\/em> adding that:\u00a0<em>\u201cADC does not hand-pick candidates, and no individual has been selected ahead of the primary process.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>He insisted that the viral reports did not emanate from the party, saying:\u00a0<em>\u201cThe so-called announcement being shared originates from unverified posts and publications, not from any official ADC channel.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Abdullahi stressed that until the party conducts its primaries through its authorised organs, no candidacy is valid or recognised.<\/p>\n<p>He assured party members and the public that the ADC remains committed to a free, fair, and level playing field for all aspirants.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe ask the public to disregard any and all such reports,\u201d<\/em> Abdullahi stated.<\/p>\n<p><!-- CONTENT END 4 --><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<p><span class=\"copyright\"><strong>\u00a9 2025 Abia Radio News, a division of Tee Global Innovataions.
