The Plateau State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has distanced itself from a group that staged a rally urging Governor Caleb Mutfwang<\/strong> to leave the PDP and defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).<\/p>\n In a statement issued late Tuesday, the state Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon. Felix Choji,<\/strong> dismissed the group, led by Hon. Christopher Danjem, as an unknown, unregistered, and \u201cfaceless\u201d body with no affiliation to the PDP.<\/p>\n Choji alleged that the group was being sponsored by the APC to cause confusion within the ruling party in the state.<\/p>\n He said: \u201cThe group is acting out a script by its sponsors, who are obviously from the APC, which is trying everything possible to distract and destabilize the PDP and derail the good works the Governor is doing in the state.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n The statement added that the group\u2019s press conference held on December 1 at Secretariat Junction, Jos, amounted to deliberate misinformation.<\/p>\n Quoting the party\u2019s position, Choji wrote: \u201cThe People\u2019s Democratic Party (PDP), Plateau State chapter, today issues a formal response to the erroneous claims made by a strange and faceless group who pride themselves as the coalition of Peoples Democratic Party support groups\u2026 where its coordinator, one Hon. Christopher Danjem, converged with some of his selected friends and associates.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n The PDP reiterated that Danjem\u2019s group was not recognized in its records.<\/p>\n According to the statement: \u201cThe People\u2019s Democratic Party, Plateau State Chapter, does not recognize in any way, and also does not have in its database, the said group as one of its registered support platforms or affiliated support groups, as erroneously claimed and presented by Danjem.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Choji stressed that the activities of the group do not reflect the position of the party. He said,\u00a0\u201cWe urge all and sundry to disregard such claims and to carefully engage the party through fact-based findings, rather than relying on a mere fabricated and deceitful outing.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n The party further clarified that the statements credited to Danjem represent only his personal views and those of his associates.<\/p>\n \u201cFor the records, the statements made, opinions expressed, and activities coordinated by Hon. Christopher Danjem are solely those of his selected friends and associates, and do not necessarily reflect the true, official views or endorsements of the Peoples Democratic Party, Plateau State Chapter,\u201d\u00a0<\/em>the party noted.<\/p>\n While reassuring the public of its stability, the PDP said it remains focused on its mandate and ideological principles.<\/p>\n \u201cThe People\u2019s Democratic Party, Plateau State Chapter, remains resolute and focused on its mandate and commitment to its party ideology centred on democracy, national cohesion, social justice, and good governance,\u201d\u00a0<\/em>the statement said, adding that it would continue to disseminate accurate and transparent information whenever necessary.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a9 2025 Abia Radio News, a division of Tee Global Innovataions.
