Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has launched a stinging critique of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)<\/strong> and its key supporters, asserting that their public loyalty to President Bola Tinubu <\/a>does not translate into grassroots backing.<\/p>\n Speaking on Channels Television Politics Today, the Senator declared that many politicians currently backing the President would face immediate public rejection if they attempted to canvass votes for him in their home states or communities.<\/p>\n Abaribe, representing Abia <\/a>South, insisted that the real measure of political support lies with the masses, not in political offices.<\/p>\n Driving home his point by recalling a previous conversation and quoting former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, Abaribe said:\u00a0\u201cI come from Aba. I was discussing that the APC has this government and that government, and people were a little worried, and I asked one of them a question. In fact, that question was asked by Governor Peter Obi. He asked one of them, he said, this Abaribe here, will he go to Ariaria market and tell them to vote for Bola Tinubu? He can\u2019t try it.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cMost of the people saying they are supporting Tinubu <\/a>cannot go to their homes and say it. They can\u2019t, why? Because they would be stoned when they go to say such a thing<\/em>,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n The lawmaker expressed strong confidence that the opposition would defeat President Tinubu <\/a>in the 2027 general election, maintaining that the President lacked a genuine victory in the 2023 polls.<\/p>\n
