{"id":238317,"date":"2025-12-17T09:41:04","date_gmt":"2025-12-17T09:41:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.name.ng\/news\/electric-buses-no-plan-to-drive-you-away-abia-govt-allays-keke-riders-fears\/"},"modified":"2025-12-17T09:41:04","modified_gmt":"2025-12-17T09:41:04","slug":"electric-buses-no-plan-to-drive-you-away-abia-govt-allays-keke-riders-fears","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/electric-buses-no-plan-to-drive-you-away-abia-govt-allays-keke-riders-fears\/","title":{"rendered":"Electric buses: No plan to drive you away \u2013 Abia Govt allays Keke riders\u2019 fears\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/abia\">Abia <\/a>State government has assured members of the <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/abia\">Abia <\/a>State Tricycle Operators Union, ASTOPU,\u00a0 that the\u00a0 electric buses being introduced in the State will not drive them away from jobs, but will complement transport services in the State.<\/p>\n<p>Commissioner for Transport,\u00a0 Chimezie Ukaegbu disclosed this on Tuesday, at Aba Town Hall during the 2025 ASTOPU reward and empowerment ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>He assured that under the watch of Governor <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/Alex\">Alex <\/a>Otti, tricycle operators would continue to do their operations, considering their contributions to the state\u2019s revenue.<\/p>\n<p>Ukaegbu also said that\u00a0 tricycle operators in <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/abia\">Abia <\/a>state, especially\u00a0 those in Aba, have shown great support to the state government and advised them to prioritise their security and safety by\u00a0 avoiding alcoholism.<\/p>\n<p>He promised that his Ministry, in partnership with the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transportation, would continue to protect them and urged ASTOPU executives to maintain visionary leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transportation,\u00a0 Obioma Nwaogbe said that Tricycle operators are benefitting from the State government\u2019s infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in his\u00a0 address, the Chairman of ASTOPU,\u00a0 Victor Azubuike said the executive arm of the union organised the event to reward 164 tricycle operators who\u00a0 returned forgotten items to their office for their original owners to reclaim, and to encourage good conduct among the\u00a0 transporters.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script async defer crossorigin=\"anonymous\" src=\"https:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/sdk.js#xfbml=1&amp;version=v9.0&amp;appId=420332301344305\" nonce=\"sm97MhBO\" type=\"pmdelayedscript\" data-cfasync=\"false\" data-no-optimize=\"1\" data-no-defer=\"1\" data-no-minify=\"1\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Abia State government has assured members of the Abia State Tricycle Operators Union, ASTOPU,\u00a0 that the\u00a0 electric buses being introduced in the State will not drive them away from jobs, but will complement transport services in the State.
