{"id":238527,"date":"2025-12-24T06:21:33","date_gmt":"2025-12-24T06:21:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.name.ng\/news\/pdp-reacts-to-inecs-rejection-of-turaki-led-nwc-insists-party-has-no-faction\/"},"modified":"2025-12-24T06:21:33","modified_gmt":"2025-12-24T06:21:33","slug":"pdp-reacts-to-inecs-rejection-of-turaki-led-nwc-insists-party-has-no-faction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/pdp-reacts-to-inecs-rejection-of-turaki-led-nwc-insists-party-has-no-faction\/","title":{"rendered":"PDP Reacts to INEC\u2019s Rejection of Turaki-Led NWC, Insists Party Has No Faction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"143\">The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has insisted that it is not divided into factions, dismissing claims of a leadership split within the party.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"145\" data-end=\"375\">The party\u2019s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, made this clarification while responding to the Independent National Electoral Commission\u2019s (INEC) decision to reject the Kabiru Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"377\" data-end=\"542\">INEC had announced that it would not recognise the national officers elected at the PDP\u2019s National Convention held on November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"544\" data-end=\"770\">In a letter dated December 22, 2025, and signed by its Secretary, Dr Rose Oriaran-Anthony, the commission explained that it was unable to upload the list of the elected officers on its website due to existing court judgements.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"772\" data-end=\"1027\">INEC stated that its position was guided by subsisting court rulings and pending litigation surrounding the party\u2019s leadership crisis, stressing that it would be inappropriate to recognise any factional officers while the matter remains before the courts.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1029\" data-end=\"1170\">Reacting to the development, Ememobong disclosed that the PDP has appealed the judgement relied upon by INEC in rejecting the Turaki-led NWC.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1172\" data-end=\"1327\">In a statement he signed, he said, \u201cThe leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party reiterates that, in law and in fact, there is no faction within the PDP.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1329\" data-end=\"1565\">\u201cThis clarification has become necessary following INEC\u2019s letter citing Federal High Court judgements as the reason for its inability to recognise and upload the details of our legitimately elected leadership from the Ibadan convention.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1567\" data-end=\"1749\">\u201cThe judgements in question have been appealed, and applications for a stay of execution have also been filed. The Court of Appeal is expected to hear and determine the matters soon.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1751\" data-end=\"1932\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">\u201cThe fact remains that there is no faction in the PDP, as all legitimate organs and the administrative structure of the party are under the leadership of Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has insisted that it is not divided into factions, dismissing claims of a leadership split within the party.
