Six lawmakers in the Zamfara State House of Assembly have dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).<\/p>\n
The defection was formally announced, marking a fresh political shift in the state legislature.<\/p>\n
The lawmakers were elected on the platform of the PDP but have now aligned with the ruling APC.<\/p>\n
Their exit reduces the strength of the opposition in the Assembly and further boosts APC\u2019s influence in the state.<\/p>\n
Those who crossed over include Hon. Muktar Nasir Kaura, who represents Kaura North constituency.<\/p>\n
Also involved is Hon. Nasiru Abdullahi Maru of Maru North and Hon. Amiru Ahmad Keta from Tsafe West.<\/p>\n
Others are Hon. Bashar Aliyu Gummi, representing Gummi I constituency, and Barrister Bashir Abubakar Masama of Bukkuyum North.<\/p>\n
Hon. Bashir Bello, the lawmaker for Bungudu West constituency, is also part of the defection.<\/p>\n
The lawmakers announced their decision during plenary, where they cited political realignment and the need to work with the ruling party as reasons for their move.<\/p>\n
Their defection immediately changes the numerical balance within the Assembly.<\/p>\n
With this development, the APC now holds a stronger position in the Zamfara State House of Assembly.<\/p>\n
