Former political adviser to President Bola Tinubu, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed<\/strong>, has written off the chances of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), staging a comeback in the 2027 elections.<\/p>\n

According to him, after holding on to power for so long, the leaders of the PDP lost their heads after losing the 2015 election.<\/p>\n

He argued that the PDP<\/strong> is a house divided against itself, and nobody seems capable of rescuing the situation.<\/p>\n

Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that Baba-Ahmed made the declaration on Thursday during an interview on Arise Television.<\/p>\n

He said,\u00a0\u201cThe PDP is drifting away. I think it is gone, and I do not believe anyone can fix it. The PDP is not the only party capable of providing a credible opposition to the APC; there is the ADC and others.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI think that sometimes we blame the government too much and we don\u2019t pay attention to the damage that the PDP, the opposition, has done to itself. The truth about it is that PDP has been on the free fall for a long time.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThese are politicians who held power for a very long time and it turns out that these people never had any experience in being in the opposition. These are accomplished politicians who run the country, and suddenly they lost power and they lost their heads.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

I Don\u2019t Blame Tinubu <\/a>Alone<\/h2>\n

Speaking further on the political situation in Nigeria ahead of the 2027 elections, Baba-Ahmed submitted that Tinubu <\/a>is bringing too many politicians into his circle, but that is not actual power.<\/p>\n

He added that while Tinubu <\/a>can be blamed for the current trend of political developments in the country, the PDP itself has not been able to hold its house together.<\/p>\n

Baba-Ahmed lamented the division and crisis rocking the PDP, saying the inability of the party to resolve its disagreements is giving the ruling party the opportunity to attract more politicians.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople blame Tinubu. I blame him as well, because there are areas clearly where he\u2019s wrong. He\u2019s amassing too much power, or what appears to be too much power. He is actually collecting too many politicians around him. That\u2019s not necessarily power.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cBut what has the PDP done to itself? PDP has been involved in destroying itself consistently. And what is amazing is that they started very well as a party, accomplished politicians, people who had served their country very well. And certainly it has degenerated and this is where we are.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThey allowed their party to split. They couldn\u2019t find a way to either take the part that is left. It\u2019s not the first time PDP has taken a huge chunk of itself and given it to the opposition. This happened in 2015 and it\u2019s happening again,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n
