Former Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of failing to adhere to the rule of law.<\/p>\n
Malami alleged that the anti-graft agency had failed to obey a court order granting him bail.<\/p>\n
Abia Radio News<\/strong> understands that a Federal High Court in Abuja has reportedly granted bail to Malami.<\/p>\n However, the EFCC, through its legal team, has denied being duly served with the court order.<\/p>\n In a statement issued by Malami\u2019s media office, Mohammed Doka, the former AGF, insisted that the EFCC and its lawyers were served with the court order shortly after it was issued.<\/p>\n According to the statement, a court bailiff made attempts to effect service at the EFCC office, but officials allegedly declined to acknowledge or receive the documents.<\/p>\n \u201cThe claim by the EFCC that it was not served with the court order is incorrect and misleading,\u201d<\/em> the statement said, stressing that service was carried out in accordance with the rules of the court and that proof of service exists.<\/p>\n However, the EFCC\u2019s counsel, Barrister Okutepa, SAN, countered the claim, maintaining that the commission was never properly served and therefore could not be accused of disobeying a court directive it had no formal notice of.<\/p>\n The lawyer argued further that \u201cdue process must be followed not only in granting orders but also in serving them.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \n <\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Former Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of failing to adhere to the rule of law.
