The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is making moves ahead of the 2027 general elections, with plans to engage key political figures, including Peter Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.<\/p>\n
The party\u2019s South-South Zonal Chairman, Emma Ogidi, disclosed that the PDP is preparing for a series of strategic consultations aimed at repositioning the party and strengthening internal unity before the next election cycle.<\/p>\n
Ogidi explained that the engagements are part of wider efforts by the party\u2019s leadership to reconnect with influential Nigerians across political, religious, and traditional lines. <\/p>\n
He said the initiative is being driven by the party\u2019s National Working Committee, recently inaugurated in Ibadan, Oyo State.<\/p>\n
According to him, the consultations will involve foundation members of the party, respected elders, religious leaders, and traditional rulers across the country. <\/p>\n
He noted that several high-profile meetings have already taken place as part of this outreach.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo we are going around. He has already seen former president Olusegun Obasanjo, IBB and the rest. It\u2019s all about seeing those that are important and telling Nigerians that we are alive and we are moving.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe also have plans to see Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar. PDP is the real face of democracy in Nigeria. The only party that has not changed its logo and vision for Nigeria.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat we are doing now is to remind Nigerians of all that we did. There\u2019s nothing APC is doing today. APC is just an aberration,\u201d Ogidi said.<\/p>\n
The PDP chieftain stressed that the party is focused on rebuilding public confidence and reminding Nigerians of its role in shaping democratic governance since 1999. <\/p>\n
