The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Imo State on Tuesday held a special stakeholders\u2019 meeting at its State Secretariat in Owerri.<\/p>\n
The meeting underscored the party\u2019s rising political profile and growing influence in the state.<\/p>\n
Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that the gathering attracted party leaders, captains of industry and prominent dignitaries, and was marked by a major political realignment as former Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha, <\/strong>formally presented new members who defected from the Labour Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Obidient Movement into the ADC.<\/p>\n Addressing party faithful, Ihedioha urged members to put aside personal interests and work collectively to build a strong, united and progressive political platform capable of delivering good governance.<\/p>\n He stressed that cohesion, discipline and a shared sense of purpose were indispensable to the growth of the ADC, noting that the party must remain focused on its founding ideals.<\/p>\n According to him, \u201cOnly through unity, selflessness and discipline can we build a formidable political party that truly serves the people and delivers quality governance.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Other speakers at the event echoed similar sentiments, calling on members to remain committed to the party\u2019s values and vision.<\/p>\n Former Governor of Imo State, Achike Udenwa, the ADC South-East Chairman, Chief Born Unachukwu, and the Imo State Chairman of the party, Prof. James Okoroma, emphasised the need for hard work, integrity and dedication in advancing the ADC\u2019s agenda.<\/p>\n They urged members to uphold the core principles of the party and remain steadfast in its pursuit of national rebirth and people-centred governance.<\/p>\n The new members, who were formally presented by Ihedioha, said their decision to join the ADC was informed by what they described as the party\u2019s \u201cquality of leadership\u201d and strong internal democracy.<\/p>\n They accused both the Labour Party and the PDP of failing to live up to the expectations of Nigerians, alleging that the parties had aligned with the ruling All Progressives Congress and neglected the welfare of the people.<\/p>\n In a show of unity and commitment, ADC leaders and Local Government Area chapters across the state voluntarily contributed over \u20a6200 million to support the party\u2019s operations and activities in Imo State.<\/p>\n The gesture was described as a demonstration of confidence in the party\u2019s leadership and its prospects ahead of future political engagements.<\/p>\n The meeting ended on a note of optimism, with stakeholders expressing renewed hope, unity and determination to strengthen the ADC and advance its strategic goals in Imo State and beyond.<\/p>\n \n <\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Imo State on Tuesday held a special stakeholders\u2019 meeting at its State Secretariat in Owerri.
