Hip\u2011hop mogul Sean \u2018Diddy\u2019 Combs<\/strong>\u2019 bid for a presidential pardon has hit a wall.<\/p>\n Abia Radio News<\/strong> learnt that the 56\u2011year\u2011old music executive, currently serving a multi\u2011year prison sentence on prostitution\u2011related convictions, reportedly wrote to US President Donald Trump<\/strong> seeking clemency, but the president has made it clear he has no plans to grant the request.<\/p>\n According to President Trump, in a recent interview with The New York Times, Combs sent him a written appeal for a pardon after his conviction.<\/p>\n Trump acknowledged receiving the letter but showed little inclination to respond favourably.<\/p>\n \u201cHe asked me for a pardon,\u201d<\/em> the president said when pressed about the request, even quipping, \u201cOh, would you like to see that letter?\u201d <\/em>though he did not produce it publicly.<\/p>\n Combs\u2019 legal team has not publicly disclosed the contents of the communication, while a White House spokesperson confirmed Trump\u2019s remarks to the press.<\/p>\n Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that Combs, a one\u2011time titan of hip\u2011hop and founder of Bad Boy Records, was convicted in July 2025 on two counts<\/strong> of transporting people across state lines for prostitution, charges tied to the organisation of paid sexual encounters. A jury acquitted him of the more serious accusations of racketeering and sex trafficking.<\/p>\n In October 2025, a federal judge sentenced him to 50 months in prison and a $500,000 fine. With credit for time already served, his release is projected for mid\u20112028.<\/p>\n Trump, who himself has a long and controversial history of issuing clemency, suggested that the decision was influenced, at least in part, by the shift in his relationship with Combs over the years.<\/p>\n Once socially acquainted with the music star, Trump said their rapport soured after Combs became publicly critical of him during political campaigns.
