Abia <\/a>State Governor, Alex <\/a>Otti<\/strong>, has urged residents of the state to disregard recent remarks and political moves by some opposition leaders, describing them as mere \u201cnoise\u201d driven by personal interests.<\/p>\n Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that Otti spoke on Saturday at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Umuoriehi, Umuahia North Local Government Area, during the dedication of a new church building.<\/p>\n The governor was reacting to a reported alliance against his re-election by former Abia <\/a>governors Orji Uzor Kalu, Theodore Orji and Okezie Ikpeazu.<\/p>\n The governor criticised the opposition figures, saying they were the same individuals who had opportunities in the past but failed to develop the state.<\/p>\n According to him, their current political manoeuvres were motivated by personal ambition rather than the collective interest of the Abia <\/a>people.<\/p>\n \u201cThey are the same people who had the opportunity to develop Abia <\/a>and failed,\u201d<\/em> Otti said, adding that any coalition formed against his administration would ultimately collapse.<\/p>\n Following comments earlier from the church\u2019s pastor, the governor downplayed the political tension, urging Abians not to be distracted.<\/p>\n He said, \u201cPastor Uguru made reference to the noise that you may have been hearing in the last few days.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cI want us to just dismiss it as noise, you know, and it\u2019s always the empty barrel that makes the loudest noise.<\/em><\/p>\n
