Activist, Omoyele Sowore has taunted a former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami for being held in the same correctional facility as Prince Emmanuel, a brother to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).<\/p>\n
Sowore while speaking in a video seen by POLITICS NIGERIA, said the former AGF, whom he claimed harassed and persecuted members of the opposition or government critics during his tenure, is now facing the same ordeal.<\/p>\n
Malami, his wife, Asabe Bashir and son, Abdulaziz Malami are being tried before a Federal High Court, Abuja over a N8.7 billion money laundering allegation.<\/p>\n
While the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had detained him for a total of 31 days, the court, ordered his transfer to the Correctional Centre in Kuje, Abuja, following his arraignment.<\/p>\n
He was later granted bail of N500 million among other conditions by the court presided over by Justice Emeka Nwite on January 7.<\/p>\n
Reacting to the former AGF\u2019s stay at the correctional facility, Sowore said, \u201cIt\u2019s a cell that Nnamdi Kanu\u2019s brother, I , was staying in when we were arrested in October, that Malami is staying in. So those of you who are in power, who are enjoying impunity, just know that one day punishment will come to your front door.\u201d<\/p>\n
The activist further claimed that Malami has since refused to process his bail as he is unaware of his fate or what exactly is going on outside the walls of the correctional facility.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd he has refused to even process his bail because he\u2019s afraid of\u2026 He used to tell you that whenever there\u2019s oppression, it would go full circle. So those of you who are in power, who are enjoying impunity, just know that one day punishment will come to your front door. Because Malami abducted me in court, in the federal high court here, after I was granted bail. And today, Malami has been granted bail.<\/p>\n
\u201cMalami has refused to process his bail because he doesn\u2019t even know what is happening outside the Kuje prison door. It happens that when I was detained there, it was Malami who sent me there at that time.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe place they call VIP, a death row cell, but they have converted it. I heard Buhari went and developed the place. When we were there in October, my friend, Emmanuel, the younger brother of Nnamdi Kanu, was put into that particular place. Now Malami is enjoying because he has to pay Prince for putting deodorants inside so that he can breathe,\u201d Sowore noted.<\/p>\n
