Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has officially made his way back to the gym, marking his first public steps toward recovery following a harrowing road accident that shook the sports world last month. <\/p>\n
The 36-year-old British-Nigerian boxer was seen engaging in light workouts and pad sessions just 19 days after the tragic incident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which claimed the lives of two of his most trusted associates.<\/p>\n
Taking to his social media, Joshua shared a series of clips showcasing his return to physical activity, including time on an exercise bike and swimming. <\/p>\n
He captioned the footage with the phrase \u201cmental strength therapy,\u201d suggesting that his return to the gym is as much about psychological healing as it is about physical fitness. <\/p>\n
Other images posted by the fighter included a defiant message, \u201cI am a fighter,\u201d alongside a throwback photo of his legendary 2017 bout with Wladimir Klitschko, signaling his resilience during this dark period.<\/p>\n
The accident occurred on December 29, 2025, while Joshua was on holiday in Nigeria. He had recently arrived in the country to celebrate his sixth-round knockout victory over Jake Paul in Miami. <\/p>\n
The collision happened when the Lexus SUV he was traveling in reportedly slammed into a stationary truck near the Sagamu interchange. <\/p>\n
While Joshua escaped with minor injuries and was discharged from a Lagos hospital on New Year\u2019s Eve, the crash was fatal for his strength and conditioning coach, Sina Ghami, and his long-time trainer, Latif \u2018Latz\u2019 Ayodele. Both men were integral parts of his camp and were buried in London earlier this month.<\/p>\n
However, as Joshua attempts to find normalcy, the legal fallout from the tragedy continues to unfold in Nigerian courts. <\/p>\n
The driver of the vehicle, 47-year-old Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, is currently facing several criminal charges, including dangerous driving and operating a vehicle without a valid license. <\/p>\n
