President Bola Tinubu <\/a>has ordered the suspension of the commencement of the All Progressives Congress<\/span><\/span> (APC) electronic registration exercise in Kano state.<\/p>\n

Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, a member of the House of Representatives, disclosed the directive in a 27-second video circulated on social media on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Doguwa said the decision was taken by the APC national leadership following Tinubu\u2019s directive.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe leadership of the APC at the national level, acting on the directive of President Bola Tinubu, has ordered that the commencement of the APC e-registration in Kano be stopped,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Doguwa represents Doguwa\/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency and is a ranking APC chieftain in Kano.<\/p>\n

He currently chairs the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream) and the special committee on oil theft and losses in the 10th National Assembly.<\/p>\n

The development comes barely a week after Ahmed Aruwa, APC publicity secretary in Kano, said the party was set to flag off the e-registration exercise in the state.<\/p>\n

Aruwa said the party was expecting Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, former Kano governor and national leader of the APC, to attend the flag-off.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are fully prepared for the commencement of the e-registration, and we are expecting our leader, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, to be in Kano for the official flag-off,\u201d Aruwa said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe registration is part of efforts to strengthen the party\u2019s structure and expand its membership base across the state,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Explaining the suspension, Doguwa suggested it was linked to ongoing political developments involving the Kano governor.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat will you do if Tinubu <\/a>says he has accepted Abba? Well, today he accepted him,\u201d Doguwa said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe plan was to start collecting the APC e-registration register tomorrow, but the President and the national leadership of the APC said to pause and wait until Abba officially defects, as he will be the first to collect the membership card,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The development comes amid speculation that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano governor elected on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party<\/span><\/span>, may defect to the APC.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
