In a major political coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially teamed up with the Obidient Movement to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).<\/p>\n
The partnership was solidified on Monday in Benin City, Edo State, following a massive defection of Obidient Movement members into the ADC. <\/p>\n
Leading the reception was Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, a former National Chairman of the APC and current ADC chieftain, who expressed strong confidence that this new alliance has the momentum to take over the reigns of power.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the event, Odigie-Oyegun noted that the heavy presence of youths at the gathering proves that Nigerians are hungry for a national rebirth. He described the move as a strategic step toward saving the country from its current challenges.<\/p>\n
\u201cA new Nigeria is truly possible,\u201d Odigie-Oyegun told the crowd. He recalled a similar gathering involving media mogul Dele Momodu, but noted that seeing the sheer number of committed youths from the Obidient Movement convinced him that the country is ready for a leadership change. <\/p>\n
He emphasized that the coalition was formed out of a shared dissatisfaction with the current state of the nation.<\/p>\n
Adding weight to the development, the Edo State Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Asemota Idiogbe, declared the ADC as the most formidable platform to dislodge the APC. <\/p>\n
He revealed that the movement, which was a driving force for the Labour Party in 2023, has now fully transitioned into the ADC to strengthen its structures.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is the right party to battle the APC in Edo and Nigeria. ADC will take over Edo and the country,\u201d Idiogbe said. He further stated that the movement expects Peter Obi to fly the party\u2019s flag in the next presidential election, describing the ADC as a home for those who want a better Nigeria.<\/p>\n
Moreover, Edo State Chairman of the party, Kenneth Odion, and the State Woman Leader, Faith Ebodaghe, welcomed the new members.
