{"id":239785,"date":"2026-01-20T06:25:01","date_gmt":"2026-01-20T06:25:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/abia-govt-gives-landlords-four-weeks-deadline-to-renovate-dirty-buildings\/"},"modified":"2026-01-20T06:25:01","modified_gmt":"2026-01-20T06:25:01","slug":"abia-govt-gives-landlords-four-weeks-deadline-to-renovate-dirty-buildings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/abia-govt-gives-landlords-four-weeks-deadline-to-renovate-dirty-buildings\/","title":{"rendered":"Abia Govt gives landlords four weeks deadline to renovate dirty buildings\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.name.ng\/news\/abia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Abia <\/a>State government has given landlords in Umuahia four weeks to renovate their buildings or face the consequences of government actions.<\/p>\n<p>It said the buildings were dirty and defacing the beauty of the city.<\/p>\n<p>The State government also announced that shanties and other illegal projections in Umuahia are to be pulled down in the next few days by Umuahia Capital Development Authority, UCDA.<\/p>\n<p>The Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu announced this on Monday while briefing journalists on the outcome of this week\u2019s executive council meeting presided over by Governor <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.name.ng\/news\/Alex\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alex <\/a>Otti.<\/p>\n<p>He\u00a0 lamented that many buildings in Umuahia have not been maintained or given facelift for many years by their owners, thereby defacing the beauty\u00a0 of the <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.name.ng\/news\/abia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Abia <\/a>capital and sabotaging the efforts of the State government in urban beatification.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe State government has observed with dismay that many landlords have not carried out routine maintenance or facelift on their buildings for years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese buildings currently deface the city thereby setting back the efforts of the State government to beautify Umuahia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLandlords that disregard this directive will face the consequences\u201d, the <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.name.ng\/news\/abia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Abia <\/a>State government warned.<\/p>\n<p>The Commissioner also announced that <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.name.ng\/news\/abia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Abia <\/a>State government has employed 649 medical personnel to work in the State\u2019s healthcare system.<\/p>\n<p>Kanu explained that the newly employed medical personnel included 432 nurses and one neurosurgeon.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script async defer crossorigin=\"anonymous\" src=\"https:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/sdk.js#xfbml=1&amp;version=v9.0&amp;appId=420332301344305\" nonce=\"sm97MhBO\" type=\"pmdelayedscript\" data-cfasync=\"false\" data-no-optimize=\"1\" data-no-defer=\"1\" data-no-minify=\"1\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Abia State government has given landlords in Umuahia four weeks to renovate their buildings or face the consequences of government actions.
