{"id":239845,"date":"2026-01-20T15:21:44","date_gmt":"2026-01-20T15:21:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/us-mourns-iman-who-saved-262-christians-from-plateau-attack\/"},"modified":"2026-01-20T15:21:44","modified_gmt":"2026-01-20T15:21:44","slug":"us-mourns-iman-who-saved-262-christians-from-plateau-attack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/us-mourns-iman-who-saved-262-christians-from-plateau-attack\/","title":{"rendered":"US mourns Iman who saved 262 Christians from Plateau attack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"the-post\">\n<p><!-- .entry-header-outer \/--><\/p>\n<div class=\"featured-area\">\n<div class=\"featured-area-inner\">\n<figure class=\"single-featured-image\"><img width=\"780\" height=\"470\" src=\"https:\/\/politicsnigeria.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/IMG_5844-780x470.jpeg\" class=\"attachment-jannah-image-post size-jannah-image-post wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" data-main-img=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"entry-content entry clearfix\">\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The United States of America has mourned the passing of <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Imam Abubakar Abdullahi who saved over 250 Christians during a terrorist attack in Plateau State.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Abdullahi, a native of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State died on January 15, 2026, at the age of 90.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Eulogised by many, Abdullahi was said to have lived a life defined by courage, love and uncommon humanity. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In a statement issued on Tuesday, the US Mission in Nigeria described Abdullahi as a fearless advocate of religious tolerance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The US also said that the cleric\u2019s action is an example of legacy of peace and acceptance that inspires both Nigerians and Americans alike.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It said, \u201cMission Nigeria offers condolences to the loved ones of Imam Abubakar Abdullahi following his passing\u202fon January 15.\u202f <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cImam Abdullahi was a fearless advocate for religious tolerance and had a long history of outreach across religious communities.\u202f <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThe Department of State formally recognised Imam Abdullahi with the 2019 International Religious Freedom Award for his courageous efforts in June of 2018 which saved the lives of hundreds of Christians who were being attacked in Barkin Ladi, Plateau state. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cHis humanity positively manifested interfaith coexistence and harmony, and we know his legacy of peace and acceptance will live on and continue to inspire Nigerians and Americans alike,\u201d the US Mission in Nigeria said in the statement.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!-- .entry-content \/--><\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The United States of America has mourned the passing of Imam Abubakar Abdullahi who saved over 250 Christians during a terrorist attack in Plateau State.
