Former presidential adviser Hakeem Baba-Ahmed<\/strong> has predicted that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) could break up after the conduct of its primaries for the 2027 presidency.<\/p>\n Baba-Ahmed noted that the ADC currently has many politicians on its books eying the party\u2019s ticket.<\/p>\n He, however, predicted that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar<\/strong> would likely win the ADC presidential primaries, and then the losers from the primary election and their supporters would walk out of the party.<\/p>\n Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that Baba-Ahmed made the submissions on Tuesday while speaking on Channels Television\u2019s Politics Today.<\/p>\n \u201cIf ADC goes to convention, and it certainly will, because that\u2019s what former Vice President Atiku wants, he will get the ticket.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cAnd then, a lot of people will walk out because a lot of people are in that party only for the same thing. They want the ticket,<\/em>\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Particularly referencing former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi<\/strong>, Baba-Ahmed declared that Obi prefers to be handed any party\u2019s presidential ticket instead of going into a contest at the primaries.<\/p>\n He suggested that some people might have promised Obi the ADC ticket before he publicly declared for the coalition, but they appear to have reneged on their word.<\/p>\n \u201cOne of the reasons Peter Obi is saying, \u2018Look at me, I\u2019m not here for number two, I\u2019m not here for convention, I\u2019m here to fly the flag,\u2019 is that he has people who were initially whispering politely to him,<\/em>\u201d he said. \u201cBut now they are saying, \u2018Join the queue. You\u2019re not the only one with ambition here.\u2019\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n He added that Obi prefers to be a consensus candidate rather than go into a competitive primary with other aspirants.<\/p>\n \u201cPeter Obi doesn\u2019t do convention.
