The Federal High Court in Abuja has affirmed the removal of Comrade Julius Abure as national chairman of the Labour Party.<\/p>\n
The court also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise the Mrs Nenadi Usman-led national caretaker committee as the lawful leadership of the party.<\/p>\n
The ruling was disclosed by Inibehe Effiong, a human rights lawyer, in a post on X on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Effiong said he was in court when Justice Lifu delivered the judgment in a related case.<\/p>\n
He said the judge upheld the Nenadi Usman-led committee as the only valid leadership of the Labour Party.<\/p>\n
According to Effiong, the court reaffirmed that Abure\u2019s tenure had elapsed in line with an earlier supreme court judgment.<\/p>\n
He added that the court consequently directed INEC to immediately recognise Usman as the party\u2019s leader.<\/p>\n
Effiong wrote, \u201cI am currently before the federal high court in Abuja for a case, and I listened to judgement delivered in another case.<\/p>\n
\u201cHonourable Justice Lifu has just upheld Senator Nnadi Esther Usman-led national caretaker committee as the only valid and lawful leadership of the Labour Party.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe judge reaffirmed that by the supreme court\u2019s judgement, Julius Abure\u2019s tenure had since elapsed. The judge ordered INEC to recognise Nnadi Usman forthwith.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
