The governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has claimed that those criticising his government are intimidated by his administration.<\/p>\n
Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that the governor has been heavily criticised online over the deplorable conditions of roads in different parts of the state.<\/p>\n Under his watch, many social media commentators have tagged Ogun as the \u201cheadquarters of bad roads\u201d in Nigeria.<\/p>\n Some communities bordering Lagos State are among the worst hit by the deplorable roads.<\/p>\n On Tuesday, the Department of State Services (DSS) freed a pastor, Kayode Olawoye, alongside two of his associates who were detained following public outcry.<\/p>\n Olawoye became an internet sensation following his expos\u00e9 on the poor state of some roads in Ogun State, which he had repeatedly drawn to the attention of the state government.<\/p>\n However, speaking at the commissioning of a 3.5-kilometre Laderin\u2013Prof. Wole Soyinka Train Station Road in Abeokuta, Abiodun said his critics are \u201cbarking dogs,\u201d who deserve no response.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are a very deliberate administration. We will not pay attention to any barking dog. Like they say, nobody throws stones at unripe fruits.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cSo, anybody who decides to attack us on social media, we appreciate the fact that it is because of how intimidating this administration is.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cSo, we have no response for them. I will respond to them by commissioning roads every week for the next two months,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n The governor said, contrary to criticism, that his government had constructed about 1,600 kilometres of roads over the last six years.<\/p>\n He said, \u201cIn the last six years, my administration has constructed, at the minimum, 1,600 kilometres of roads, and that is not a joke. Then, I make bold to say that, at the risk of sounding immodest, that\u2019s more roads than the two administrations before me constructed.
