Nollywood actor, Gideon Okeke, has accused Afrobeats superstars of failing to promote the Nigerian film industry.<\/p>\n
Speaking in a recent post on Instagram, Okeke lamented that Nollywood stars consistently celebrate the wins of Nigerian musicians, but singers fail to reciprocate the act.<\/p>\n

Okeke argued that top artistes like Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, and Rema could use their influence to push Nigerian cinema.<\/p>\n
He questioned whether they don\u2019t watch Nigerian movies and have not seen any actor they are interested in promoting.<\/p>\n
Okeke said, \u201cYou know how we carry our Afrobeats music on our heads? We say big three, big five, big this; we have almost idolised ourselves.<\/em><\/p>\n Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI ask myself a question that imagine your big three, big five, big one, Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, Rema, all of them, don\u2019t you watch Nigerian films? Since Netflix came to this country, haven\u2019t you watched any Nigerian films?<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cHave you not seen any actor you can actively promote? Can you not use your mouth to speak well of exceptional talents?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n He criticised a trend where musicians \u201ctry to sneak into the cracks of Nollywood\u201d by taking on roles like executive producers, suggesting their support could be more impactful elsewhere.<\/p>\n Story continues below advertisement\n<\/p>\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n \u201cYou are beginning to act as executive producers. You are sneaking into the cracks. What will happen if you use your mouth and endorse a producer, actor, actress, or cameraman?\u201d<\/em> Okeke asked.<\/p>\n \u201cPublish your own 2025 baddest Nollywood films, baddest Nollywood actors and actresses, baddest Nollywood producers, publish your own the way Obama publishes you every year. The way you make the cuts to Obama also drives traffic for other people; you don\u2019t want to take all the glory.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cBut when you travel overseas, and you encounter a foreigner, why not say, \u2018My Gee, our actors over there are bad. They can compete with Hollywood. We are all cousins. We are all together.
