{"id":240396,"date":"2026-01-27T06:09:13","date_gmt":"2026-01-27T06:09:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/umahis-son-wins-apc-chairmanship-primary-in-ohaozara\/"},"modified":"2026-01-27T06:09:13","modified_gmt":"2026-01-27T06:09:13","slug":"umahis-son-wins-apc-chairmanship-primary-in-ohaozara","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/umahis-son-wins-apc-chairmanship-primary-in-ohaozara\/","title":{"rendered":"Umahi\u2019s Son Wins APC Chairmanship Primary In Ohaozara"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">\n<p><strong>Osborne Umahi<\/strong>, the first son of the Minister of Works, <strong>David Umahi<\/strong>, has been declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship candidate for Ohaozara Local Government Area following yesterday\u2019s primary election.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that Osborne, who scored 55 votes, emerged victorious in the exercise held in Obiozara, despite facing no opposition after his only rival was disqualified.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-3\" style=\"margin: 8px auto; text-align: center; display: block; clear: both;\">\n<div class=\"c-ad\">\n<p>Story continues below advertisement\n<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/18855965\/naijanews_body2 --><\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The primary election, overseen by the APC congress committee led by Alphonsus Nwali, saw former aspirant, Jenny Umahi, disqualified from the race for failing to register on the party\u2019s ongoing online membership platform.<\/p>\n<p>With Jenny Umahi removed from contention, Osborne Umahi secured all 55 votes cast, affirming his position as the party\u2019s flagbearer ahead of the local government poll.<\/p>\n<p>The process was monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-4\" style=\"margin: 8px auto; text-align: center; display: block; clear: both;\">\n<div class=\"c-ad\">\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/18855965\/naijanews_body3 --><\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>In his acceptance speech, Osborne outlined his priorities if elected chairman, emphasising health, agriculture, youth empowerment and infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe will develop cottage agricultural centres; we will implement mechanised farming to ensure that the agricultural sector of the local government is properly developed,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n<p>He also pledged to enhance road networks within the council area, especially those linking farms and markets.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-5\" style=\"margin: 8px auto; text-align: center; display: block; clear: both;\">\n<div class=\"c-ad\">\n<p>Story continues below advertisement\n<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/18855965\/naijanews_body4 --><\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><em>\u201cWe will build roads to market places, to farmlands for easy evacuation of our agricultural products.
