Former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Istifanus Mwansat, has dismissed insinuations that the state governor, Caleb Mutfwang<\/strong>, was arm-twisted to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).<\/p>\n Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that Mutfwang\u00a0formally dumped the Peoples Democratic Party<\/strong> (PDP) on Tuesday for the APC.<\/p>\n Story continues below advertisement\n<\/p>\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n Mwansat, during an interview on Channels Television\u2019s \u2018Politics Today\u2019, a programme, stated that the Governor\u2019s decision was the best.<\/p>\n According to him, Mutfwang does not need an automatic ticket because the people of Plateau State are with him and will emerge victorious in any election.<\/p>\n He said, \u201cPlateau people are with Governor Mutfwang, he was not arm-twisted to join APC. His defection to APC was the best.<\/i><\/p>\n Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n \u201cHe does not need an automatic ticket, because the people are with him. Any time any day Mutfwang will contest elections, twice or thrice, he will win those elections I can assure you.<\/i><\/p>\n \u201cFor me, it goes with neither here nor there. Why would anybody attempt to coerce Governor Mutfwang to move into the APC? Why would anybody arm-twist him? There\u2019s basically no reason. This is out of his own volition. And of course, strategic placement and positioning, as it were.<\/i><\/p>\n \u201cThis is politics. The dynamics of politics, of course, is manifested because you cannot continue to be dogmatic or static when you notice that it is evidently clear that the platform on which you were elected is relatively sick. And of course, the period of recovery is not within your control.<\/i><\/p>\n Story continues below advertisement\n<\/p>\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n \u201cTherefore, it is even scriptural that a wise person sees danger from afar and takes a detour to avoid whatever lies ahead.<\/i><\/p>\n \u201cAnd I think the Governor as a wise person, as a good leader, has seen danger ahead.
