President Bola Tinubu <\/a>has said Nigeria and T\u00fcrkiye have agreed to fast-track cooperation in trade, energy and defence to boost job creation, investment and shared prosperity.<\/p>\n The President disclosed this on Tuesday via his official X handle during his ongoing state visit to Ankara, T\u00fcrkiye.<\/p>\n Tinubu <\/a>said discussions with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan centred on strengthening bilateral relations and delivering tangible economic benefits to citizens of both countries.<\/p>\n \u201cPresident Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan and I reaffirmed our shared ambition, which speaks directly to jobs, investment and opportunity for our people,\u201d Tinubu <\/a>stated.<\/p>\n According to him, both leaders agreed to expand trade volumes and remove structural barriers hindering business growth, with a target of achieving a five-billion-dollar trade volume between Nigeria and T\u00fcrkiye.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are creating a clear pathway to a five-billion-dollar trade volume between Nigeria and T\u00fcrkiye,\u201d the President said.<\/p>\n Tinubu <\/a>described the talks as practical and forward-looking, covering key areas such as trade and investment, energy, education, defence cooperation, peace and security.<\/p>\n He announced the establishment of a Joint Economy and Trade Committee to drive the implementation of agreements, attract new investments, support industrial growth, encourage technology transfer and strengthen private-sector participation.<\/p>\n \u201cThe creation of a Joint Economy and Trade Committee will unlock new flows of capital,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n The President welcomed Erdo\u011fan\u2019s acknowledgement of Nigeria\u2019s ongoing reforms, particularly in the energy and investment sectors, saying it reflected renewed confidence in the country\u2019s economic direction.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are determined to build an economy that works for everyone, including the most vulnerable,\u201d Tinubu <\/a>added.<\/p>\n
