The family of late gospel singer, Omije Ojumi,<\/strong> has dismissed the speculations online about begging for financial assistance for the burial of the deceased music star.<\/p>\n

Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that the singer\u2019s brother-in-law, Femi Eretan, while addressing guests during the service of songs and artistes\u2019 night held on Wednesday, condemned a viral video, in which a self-acclaimed prophet claimed that the family was publicly soliciting funds and seeking the intervention of gospel artistes to conduct the burial.<\/p>\n

Eretan firmly denied the allegation and warned of legal action if no evidence is provided to substantiate such claims.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cI am from Ondo State and I understand the rudiments of the law. Anyone who claims the family begged for burial funds must provide proof.\u201d\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n

Eretan also clarified the circumstances surrounding the earlier cancellation of burial rites proposed by some of her colleagues, noting that the family resolved to manage the burial independently after disagreements arose with members of the gospel music community.<\/p>\n

According to him, there is no internal conflict within the family, insisting they remain united and calm, but \u201cmany people are crying more than the bereaved.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

Eretan explained that following the singer\u2019s death, the family promptly contacted relatives from both her paternal and maternal lineages, as well as elders in the community.<\/p>\n

He noted that the family head, Wale Akinaanu, initially supported the proposal by some artistes to conduct the burial within a week, but it was not possible due to his fragile health and the emotional strain of the moment.<\/p>\n

However, Eretan said subsequent family discussions led to a change in decision.<\/p>\n

Despite the controversy, Eretan expressed appreciation to artistes who honoured Omije Ojumi in their personal ways and showed support by attending the service of songs.<\/p>\n
