{"id":240589,"date":"2026-01-29T09:38:54","date_gmt":"2026-01-29T09:38:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/2027-the-grumbling-in-the-north-will-be-loud-in-their-votes-ali-ndume\/"},"modified":"2026-01-29T09:38:54","modified_gmt":"2026-01-29T09:38:54","slug":"2027-the-grumbling-in-the-north-will-be-loud-in-their-votes-ali-ndume","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/2027-the-grumbling-in-the-north-will-be-loud-in-their-votes-ali-ndume\/","title":{"rendered":"2027: \u201cThe grumbling in the North will be loud in their votes \u2013 Ali Ndume"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Ali Ndume, the lawmaker representing Borno South in the Nigerian Senate has expressed concerns over the state of affairs of the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Speaking on Arise Television\u2019s Prime Time Programme on Wednesday, Ndume said there is a lot of grumbling among political stakeholders in the Northern part of the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The lawmaker warned that a lot of individuals seem to be deceiving the president about the true state of affairs and the political tempo in the region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He said, \u201cMr President, I think as a politician, as somebody who has gone through it all, is strategising to win the election but not to declare himself as the winner, no, that won\u2019t work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cBecause you only do that when you\u2019re acceptable to the people and there is a resemblance. But in the North, anybody who tells you that the North is not grumbling is not speaking the truth,\u201d Ndume said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Asked how loud the grumbling in the North is over the current state of affairs in the country, the lawmaker responded, \u201cIt will be loud in their votes, if nothing is done about it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He added that, it is also possible for the president to reverse the situation on the ground, if he so wishes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">His words, \u201cAnd the good thing about it is that, the president can turn things around, we understand that there are issues that you raised and you fix those things.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cNumber one, you didn\u2019t get this, you got this or number two, what is your problem? The North, the northern elders have been willing, they have been reaching out; I was part of the meeting that we had with Mr President where northern elders went to him and he too was prepared. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">According to Ndume, during the meeting with Bola Tinubu, he (the president) brought all the appointees from the North and was able to present to them the critical positions which these appointees were handling.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He also stated that while the meeting was successful, the president promised that he would continue to ensure that the North is not sidelined by improving on what was on the ground.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cAnd it never happened, and you know what I am suspecting?
