{"id":240683,"date":"2026-01-30T11:29:25","date_gmt":"2026-01-30T11:29:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/abia-no-longer-affected-by-national-grid-collapse-gov-otti\/"},"modified":"2026-01-30T11:29:25","modified_gmt":"2026-01-30T11:29:25","slug":"abia-no-longer-affected-by-national-grid-collapse-gov-otti","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/abia-no-longer-affected-by-national-grid-collapse-gov-otti\/","title":{"rendered":"Abia no longer affected by national grid collapse \u2013 Gov Otti"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">\n<p>Governor <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.name.ng\/news\/Alex\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alex <\/a>Otti has declared that <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.name.ng\/news\/abia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Abia <\/a>State is now free from national grid collapse, stressing that his administration is investing in converting organic waste products to electricity.<\/p>\n<p>The governor made the assertion on Thursday when he spoke to newsmen at the Government House in Umuahia.<\/p>\n<p>Otti stated that waste products are now being converted from biogas into renewable energy for Abians, adding that the state is no longer under the control of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC.<\/p>\n<p>According to the governor, the new arrangement had been negotiated and accepted by the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, which is in charge of power distribution in the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a pilot programme. Instead of throwing away waste, we can turn it into clean energy, and we will be able to power a lot of places, particularly the Umuhaia in-farms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had reported earlier that our offers to EEDC have been accepted, and we are in the process of raising the funds to pay off EEDC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn the 24th of December, the <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.name.ng\/news\/abia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Abia <\/a>State Electricity Regulation Authority took over the regulation of power from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission.
