Speaker of the Abia <\/a>State House of Assembly,\u00a0 Emmanuel Emeruwa, has disclosed\u00a0 that Abia <\/a>lawmaker, Mr. Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jr. (PDP Obingwa West constituency) provided funds to support financial needs of legislators in the House.<\/p>\n According to Emeruwa, the PDP lawmaker was usually compassionate about the\u00a0 situation of the Abia <\/a>Legislators which prompted him to provide money for the Abia <\/a>lawmakers.<\/p>\n He made the disclosure on Saturday at Mgboko Umuanunu Ward 3 Obingwa LGA of Abia <\/a>State.<\/p>\n \u201cDid you people know that Erondu used to provide us with money in the House of Assembly?<\/p>\n \u201cHe would look at us and become compassionate and then he would give us money\u201d, the Abia <\/a>Speaker said in Igbo language.<\/p>\n Emeruwa, who was standing on the podium with some members of Abia <\/a>State House of Assembly while addressing the large crowd, recalled the difficulties the legislators initially faced in the past.<\/p>\n The utterance of the Speaker has triggered mixed interpretation in Abia <\/a>State politics, with members of the opposition claiming that the lawmakers were not properly funded by the executive arm of Abia <\/a>government.<\/p>\n But supporters of the Speaker are downplaying his revelations, saying that he only\u00a0 cracked a joke.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, during the same event, former Governor of Abia <\/a>State, Okezie Ikpeazu called on the leaders in the Nigerian society to deploy\u00a0 public funds under their care\u00a0 to tackle hunger\u00a0 among the people.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
