The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP<\/strong>) has announced that it will soon unveil a timetable for outstanding congresses in some states as part of preparations for a seamless national convention in preparation for the 2027 general elections.<\/p>\n The National Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the PDP, Abdulrahman Mohammed,<\/strong> disclosed this on Monday during a meeting of the party\u2019s Board of Trustees held in Abuja.<\/p>\n Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that the development was contained in a statement signed by Mohammed and posted on \ud835\udd4f on Monday by the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Lere Olayinka.<\/p>\n Addressing party leaders at the meeting, Mohammed said the Christmas and New Year holidays were over and that the caretaker committee would now fully focus on its mandate of repositioning the PDP.<\/p>\n \u201cChristmas and New Year break is over. It is high time to focus on the mandate given to us as Caretaker Committee members to put our party on the right track,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n He explained that the committee deliberately delayed decisive actions until after the festive period.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have initially waited for the holidays to be over and now is the time for action<\/em>,\u201d Mohammed added.<\/p>\n The caretaker chairman assured party stakeholders that preparations were underway to conclude pending congresses in some states, which he said would pave the way for a smooth national convention.<\/p>\n \u201cAny moment from now, we shall roll out our timetable for activities that have to do with outstanding congresses in some states that will usher in a seamless National Convention,\u201d<\/em> he stated.<\/p>\n Mohammed also spoke on the party\u2019s internal legal disputes, revealing that the PDP had secured a favourable declaratory judgment from the Ibadan High Court.<\/p>\n \u201cYour Excellencies, you are aware of the declaratory judgment by the Ibadan High Court in our favour. The law is simple and unambiguous and we shall continue to pursue justice for our great Party,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n He reiterated that the caretaker committee would continue to rely on legal means to protect the party\u2019s interests.<\/p>\n The PDP chairman expressed appreciation to members of the Board of Trustees, describing their support as crucial to the success of the caretaker committee.<\/p>\n \u201cI want to appreciate our BoT Chairman, the Secretary and all members for your genuine support to the National Caretaker Committee under my leadership. We cannot take your support for granted,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n Mohammed added that the committee recognised the \u201cburdens you carry and your firm commitment to the party.\u201d<\/p>\n He also thanked the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike,<\/strong> whom he described as a leader of the party, for his continued support.<\/p>\n \u201cI want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our leader, the FCT Minister, for standing by us at all times,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n Reaffirming the PDP\u2019s national outlook, Mohammed warned party stakeholders against complacency, insisting that the party remained a formidable political force.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Peoples Democratic Party remains the only party that is built and centred on people with structures, national coherence, and verifiable legacies. We cannot afford for this party to sleep in our hands,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n He concluded by appreciating party stakeholders for their loyalty during what he described as defining moments.<\/p>\n \u201cFinally, we must recognise and appreciate all stakeholders of our party who have continued to give us unwavering support in these defining times.
