Nigerian media personality, Yeni Kuti, <\/strong>\u00a0has berated Nigerian singers comparing themselves with her father and Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.<\/p>\n Abia Radio News<\/strong> recalls that Wizkid recently sparked outrage after claiming he is \u201cbigger\u201d than Fela while responding to his son, Seun Kuti\u2019s criticisms of him and his fans.<\/p>\n Yeni, who spoke in an interview with Arise TV after joining other family members to receive Fela\u2019s Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2026 Grammys, stated that Fela\u2019s continued relevance 29 years after his death speaks for itself.<\/p>\n According to Yeni, debates and comparisons with Fela miss the point of legacy.<\/p>\n She urged contemporary artists to respect Fela\u2019s legacy and stop trying to diminish his achievements by comparing themselves with a dead man.<\/p>\n Yeni Kuti added that contemporary singers should compare themselves with their colleagues, not Fela.<\/p>\n She said, Don\u2019t compare chalk and cheese. Fela is a legend, give him his flowers.
