Hundreds of residents from Zurak and Sabon Gari communities in Plateau State\u2019s Wase Local Government Area have fled their homes due to renewed fear of terrorist attacks.<\/p>\n
The displacement followed two separate attacks on Monday, during which gunmen on motorcycles killed a soldier and five residents in Zurak, while three soldiers went missing.<\/p>\n
The terrorists reportedly targeted security posts before moving into residential areas, burning houses and shops, and looting food and valuables.<\/p>\n
A resident of Wase, speaking anonymously, described the community\u2019s fear and uncertainty, saying, \u201cWe understand that they are doing their best, but the terrorists often come in large numbers and overpower the security.\u201d<\/p>\n
The resident added, \u201cOur lives are not guaranteed. People cannot continue to live in fear all the time. When law and order are restored, we will return.\u201d<\/p>\n
The attacks are part of a larger wave of terrorism and kidnappings in Wase LGA, including the abduction of 28 travelers from Zak community in December 2025.<\/p>\n
However, Plateau State\u2019s new Commissioner of Police, Bassey Ewah, has vowed to make the state safer by working closely with other security agencies.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
