At the behest of King Charles, President Bola Tinubu <\/a>will embark on a state visit to the United Kingdom in March, 2026.<\/span><\/p>\n

Accompanied by his First Lady, Oluremi, the president will be in the UK between March 18, and 19, 2026.<\/span><\/p>\n

A statement by the Royal Family said the King and Queen will host Tinubu <\/a>and his wife to the state visit at Windsor Castle.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Royal Family also confirmed that President Tinubu <\/a>has already accepted the King and Queen\u2019s invitation to the state visit.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mr Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accompanied by the First Lady, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, has accepted an invitation from His Majesty The King to pay a State Visit to the United Kingdom from Wednesday, 18th March to Thursday, 19th March 2026. The King and Queen will host the State Visit at Windsor Castle,\u201d the Royal Family stated.<\/span><\/p>\n

This particular event would be Nigeria\u2019s first visit to the UK in the past 37 years.<\/span><\/p>\n

The last time Nigeria was in the UK for a state visit was in 1989 by the former Military Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida.<\/span><\/p>\n

This was followed by visits to Nigeria by King Charles, then as the Prince of Wales in 1990, 1999, 2006 and 2018.<\/span><\/p>\n

In November 2023, President Tinubu <\/a>met with King Charles ahead of the 28th United Nations climate change conference (COP28) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).<\/span><\/p>\n
