The American Centre for Law and Justice (ACLJ) is set to petition the United Nations over the alleged killing of Christians in Nigeria.<\/span><\/p>\n The group led by Jay Sekulow, its Chief Counsel focuses on constitutional and human rights law worldwide.<\/span><\/p>\n In a petition raised online, the ACLJ said it filed a written submission the UN to make efforts towards defending the Christian population in Nigeria.<\/span><\/p>\n The petition titled, \u201c<\/span>Petition To Protect Christians From Genocide in Nigeria<\/span>\u201d has garnered 110 signatures out of 750,000 as expected by the ACLJ.<\/span><\/p>\n According to the petition, 90 per cent of all Christians killed across the globe are resident in Nigeria.<\/span><\/p>\n It also stated that Christians in the country are in a constant State of terror, fear of abduction, torture and murder by the radical Islamic jihadist groups operating in Nigeria.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cBoko Haram, the jihadist army and Nigerian arm of ISIS, has slaughtered innocent Christians. It burns down Christian churches. <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cOne survivor stated, \u201cI saw bodies in the street. Children and women, some were crying for help.\u201d It even poses as preachers to slaughter Christian congregants and kidnaps Christian children.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cOther jihadist groups, like the Fulani Herdsmen, are increasing this barbaric persecution of Christians in Nigeria, slaughtering thousands,\u201d the group stated.<\/span><\/p>\n Also describing these attacks and killings as genocide, ACLJ said it has the obligation to act against the persecution of Christians in Nigeria.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re drastically expanding our Persecution Project. We\u2019re launching a multi-pronged legal advocacy campaign, urging the U.N., U.S., and world leaders to take urgent action.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve mobilised our global offices, continuing to expand our most extensive campaign for the persecuted Church ever undertaken, filing lawsuits, advocacy letters, and legal submissions to the U.N.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cTogether we can protect Christians in Nigeria from the growing scourge of jihadist persecution,\u201d the petition said.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The American Centre for Law and Justice (ACLJ) is set to petition the United Nations over the alleged killing of Christians in Nigeria.
