The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda,<\/strong> has said the ruling party now enjoys a strong youth presence across the country, noting that nearly half of its membership falls within the 18\u201335 age bracket.<\/p>\n Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that Yilwatda disclosed this while speaking on TVC Sunday Politics, where he highlighted the party\u2019s growing appeal among young Nigerians and its ongoing membership expansion drive.<\/p>\n According to him, recent internal data shows that youths constitute 49.8 per cent of registered members of the party.<\/p>\n He said, \u201cAbout 49.8% of our members, as of yesterday, are between the ages of 18 and 35.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cOur party is youthful, unlike before when we were deceived into thinking that most of the youths were with certain individuals.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cNow, we have proven to the world that most of the youths are with the APC.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Yilwatda maintained that the party\u2019s structure and programmes were increasingly attracting young Nigerians who are eager to participate in governance and political processes.<\/p>\n The APC chairman also reiterated the party\u2019s ambition to significantly expand its membership base, revealing that it is targeting 20 million members nationwide.<\/p>\n He explained that the ongoing electronic registration exercise had already recorded substantial progress, bringing the party closer to that goal.<\/p>\n \u201cEarlier, we set a target of 20 million members, and we are already approaching 12 million members in our current e-registration drive,\u201d<\/em> the APC Chairman added.<\/p>\n Yilwatda expressed optimism that the initiative would strengthen the party\u2019s grassroots presence and consolidate its support ahead of future electoral contests.<\/p>\n \n <\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has said the ruling party now enjoys a strong youth presence across the country, noting that nearly half of its membership falls within the 18\u201335 age bracket.
