{"id":241389,"date":"2026-02-10T11:58:22","date_gmt":"2026-02-10T11:58:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/life-is-worse-now-than-during-the-time-of-buhari-amaechi-laments\/"},"modified":"2026-02-10T11:58:22","modified_gmt":"2026-02-10T11:58:22","slug":"life-is-worse-now-than-during-the-time-of-buhari-amaechi-laments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/life-is-worse-now-than-during-the-time-of-buhari-amaechi-laments\/","title":{"rendered":"Life Is Worse Now Than During The Time Of Buhari \u2013 Amaechi Laments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">\n<p>Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has lamented that living conditions under President Bola Tinubu\u2019s administration are worse than under the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.<\/p>\n<p>Amaechi shared his thoughts during the ongoing \u2018Occupy NASS\u2019 protest.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that the former Rivers governor joined the protest on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n<p>The protest, branded \u201cOccupy the National Assembly\u2019, attracted a large turnout of Nigerian youths who gathered to express concerns over the Senate\u2019s rejection of the mandatory electronic transmission of election results.<\/p>\n<p>Amaechi said living conditions under the current administration have deteriorated significantly for Nigerians, unlike during Buhari\u2019s administration.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201c<em>Is life easier now than when I was in the APC? Life is worse now than during the time of former President Buhari. Even though we were planning to remove subsidy.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, a tense confrontation erupted between Amaechi\u00a0and police officers at the National Assembly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that in a viral video on Tuesday, Amaechi, a former Transportation Minister, could be seen engaging in a shouting match with police operatives.<\/p>\n<p>The former Minister looked visibly agitated as he exchanged words with the security operatives, repeatedly gesturing and raising his voice while the police attempted to restrain the situation.<\/p>\n<p>The confrontation lasted several minutes, despite efforts by aides to calm the situation, before Amaechi eventually moved away from the area.<\/p>\n<p>Amaechi was at the National Assembly complex to protest the Senate\u2019s rejection of mandatory electronic transmission of election results.<\/p>\n<p>The former Minister explained that he came to the protest with his son to demonstrate his belief that during major protests, leaders should be at the forefront with their families.<\/p>\n<p>The African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain called on Nigerians to rise up, adding that all opposition parties ought to be on the streets to protest the Senate\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n<p>Amaechi alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is opposed to the electronic transmission of election results because it fears losing elections.<\/p>\n<p>He questioned why the party would be afraid, despite having several opposition governors and prominent politicians defecting to its ranks.<\/p>\n<p>He further stated that while Senate President Godswill Akpabio and President Bola <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.name.ng\/news\/tinubu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tinubu <\/a>may ignore the demands of Nigerians, opposition parties and civil society organisations would persist until the decision is reversed.<\/p>\n<p><!-- CONTENT END 2 -->\n                                                                                                            <\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has lamented that living conditions under President Bola Tinubu\u2019s administration are worse than under the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
