California-born actor<\/strong>, Eric Dane, best known for playing Dr Mark Sloan on Grey\u2019s Anatomy and Cal Jacobs on Euphoria, has died after a long battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).<\/p>\n Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that the actor, who died at 53, had in 2025 opened up about living with ALS, the most common form of motor neurone disease, a progressive condition that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.<\/p>\n Before his demise, Eric Dane had been raising awareness about the illness.<\/p>\n Confirmed the death, Eric Dane\u2019s family, in a statement, disclosed that the actor died\u00a0on Thursday afternoon after a courageous fight, surrounded by his wife, actress Rebecca Gayheart, and their two daughters, Billie and Georgia.<\/p>\n The family describe the deceased\u2019s children as the centre of his world and thanks fans for their continued love and support.<\/p>\n Dane first gained widespread recognition as the charismatic \u201cDr McSteamy\u201d on Grey\u2019s Anatomy, becoming a fan favourite on the long-running medical drama.
