The Nigerian DJ Association has announced a temporary ban on songs by Afrobeats star Burna Boy,<\/strong> directing disc jockeys both in Nigeria and in the diaspora to remove the artist from their playlists.<\/p>\n

Abia Radio News<\/strong> reports that the decision follows a reported altercation between the Grammy-winning singer and popular disc jockey DJ Tunez at a private event in Lagos.<\/p>\n

Hours before the announcement, Burna Boy and members of his crew were alleged to have been involved in a physical confrontation with DJ Tunez, whose real name is Michael Babatunde Adeyinka.<\/p>\n

Reports are that the incident occurred inside a nightclub, where a disagreement reportedly escalated into a scuffle.<\/p>\n

According to The PUNCH<\/a><\/strong>, sources alleged that multiple individuals were involved in the clash, with DJ Tunez said to have been assaulted during the incident.<\/p>\n

DJs Declare Solidarity With Tunez<\/h2>\n

Reacting to the development, the DJ body, in a statement shared on Instagram on Tuesday, expressed support for DJ Tunez and urged its members to stand united.<\/p>\n

\u201cShowing their support for Tunez, the Nigerian DJ Association has issued a press statement to all disc jockeys to avoid playing the singer\u2019s song,<\/em>\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n

The association announced that Burna Boy\u2019s songs would be excluded from DJs\u2019 playlists pending further investigation into the incident.<\/p>\n

\u201cBurna Boy\u2019s music is temporarily out of any of our DJs\u2019 playlists till further notice. Our team will conduct a thorough investigation into the incident that occurred last night involving one of our own, DJ Tunez,\u201d<\/em> it stated.<\/p>\n

The association emphasised the need for fairness, professionalism, and unity within the entertainment industry, stressing that all DJs must be treated with dignity.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease note: Here at NigerianDJ, we put all our DJs first, standing firm on \u2018ALL DJs are EQUAL,\u2019 and offering a transparent, personal service to help our DJs and clients achieve their goals and ambitions,\u201d<\/em> the statement added.<\/p>\n

It further urged members to reject discrimination and uphold the values of equality and respect.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease ensure freedom and equality for all DJs nationwide so they can flourish. We cannot all succeed when half of us are being held back.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThe NigerianDJ is fully against the discrimination of any of its #NDJ,\u201d\u00a0<\/em>it reads further.<\/p>\n

However, as of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from Burna Boy or his management team regarding the alleged incident or the DJs\u2019 decision.<\/p>\n
