Ohanaeze Ndigbo<\/span><\/span> has expressed support for the newly formed forum of south-east former governors.<\/p>\n
The group said the forum, led by Engr. David Umahi<\/span><\/span>, is a strategic platform for advancing development in the region.<\/p>\n
Ohanaeze said the initiative is aimed at promoting infrastructure and economic growth in the south-east, noting that\u00a0the forum would also support collaboration between current governors and the federal government.<\/p>\n
Ohanaeze said such partnership is necessary to address developmental challenges facing the region and dismissed criticisms of the forum as attempts to create division among Igbo people.<\/p>\n
Ohanaeze said it remains committed to working with the federal government under President Bola Tinubu, stressing that <\/span><\/span>the partnership would help advance the interests of the Igbo people.<\/p>\n
Ohanaeze urged the forum to include former governors from Delta and Rivers states. It said Igbo-speaking communities in the two states should be accommodated.<\/p>\n
The group suggested renaming the body to Igbo former governors forum to reflect broader inclusion.<\/p>\n
Ohanaeze commended members who attended the inaugural meeting in Enugu. It listed Okezie Ikpeazu<\/span><\/span>, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi<\/span><\/span>, Chris Ngige<\/span><\/span>, Sullivan Chime<\/span><\/span> and Martin Elechi<\/span><\/span> among participants.<\/p>\n
The organisation also called on other former governors to join the forum, saying\u00a0broader participation would strengthen unity among Igbo leaders.<\/p>\n
The group endorsed the forum\u2019s support for Tinubu\u2019s re-election in 2027, noting that it aligns with the interests of the south-east and the Igbo people.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
