Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party has described the just concluded 2026 National Convention of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a success.<\/span><\/p>\n Obi, in a statement issued hours after the convention which took place at the Rainbow Event Centre in Abuja on Tuesday, said the Nigerians witnessed a defining moment in the nation\u2019s democratic journey.<\/span><\/p>\n The former governor of Anambra State also condemned the Chairman of the ADC, David Mark; the chairman of the party\u2019s Convention Committee, Liyel Imoke and other party members who played different roles to ensure the event came to fruition.<\/span><\/p>\n He said, \u201cYesterday, we witnessed yet another defining moment in our democratic journey as the ADC convention was held successfully against all odds.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI must respectfully appreciate the leadership of our party, ably led by the Chairman, Distinguished Senator David Mark, whose calm and steady guidance continues to provide direction at critical moments.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cMy gratitude equally goes to the convention organising committee led by H.E Lyle Imoke, whose diligence, sacrifice, and attention to detail ensured that this convention was not only held, but was successful in every sense of the word.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cTo our delegates, party faithful, volunteers, and supporters across Nigeria and beyond, I thank you deeply. You have once again demonstrated that democracy thrives when the people refuse to give up on it,\u201d Obi said.<\/span><\/p>\n He further appreciated Nigerians who he said through their resilience and unwavering belief in democracy, made the ADC\u2019s 2026 National Convention a reality.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cYour commitment is a reminder that the power of the people remains stronger than forces that seek to undermine it,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n He noted that since the convention has come and gone, it is time for everyone who believes in Nigeria to quickly move from celebration to responsibility.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cNigeria is facing very serious challenges, economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment, and a general sense of uncertainty among our people. These issues require urgent attention, clear thinking, and decisive action.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe success of this convention must therefore not end as an event; it must become a renewed commitment to building a nation that works for everyone. We must focus on offering practical solutions, strengthening our institutions, and restoring hope to millions of Nigerians.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe way forward demands unity, sacrifice, and integrity. We must put Nigeria first, above personal interests, above politics, and above all forms of division.
