According to the source, three students managed to escape and later recounted how the abduction took place.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"581\" data-end=\"704\">The source added that one of the students, Purity Babangida, was feared dead after attempting to escape from the abductors.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"706\" data-end=\"898\">Those abducted include Augustina Muntari (SS2), Government Secondary School (GSS) Gumel; Happy Muntari (JS2), GSS Gumel; Favour Tanimu (JS2), GSS Kachia; and Patience Joseph (JS2), GSS Kachia.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"900\" data-end=\"1041\">Others are Peace Irimiya and Bishara Irimiya, both of St John\u2019s School, Kachia; Irimiya Galadima, the driver; Fatu Danladi; and Laraba Caleb.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1043\" data-end=\"1131\">The source described the incident as a setback for girls\u2019 education in northern Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1133\" data-end=\"1338\">\u201cThis unfortunate development is a big setback on the ongoing girls\u2019 education campaign, especially in northern Nigeria where cultural beliefs and insecurity are now the order of the day,\u201d the source said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1340\" data-end=\"1434\">As of the time of filing this report, the abductors have yet to contact the victims\u2019 families.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1436\" data-end=\"1580\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Kaduna State Police Command<\/span><\/span> and the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Kaduna State Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs<\/span><\/span> have yet to issue an official statement on the incident.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Suspected bandits have ambushed a vehicle along the Awon\u2013Kachia road in Kachia, Kaduna state, abducting 10 students and several other passengers.
