The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called on the Federal Government to address the rising cost of living and the impact of inflation on citizens\u2019 well-being.<\/span><\/p>\n Joe Ajaero, the NLC President in an interview on Tuesday said increasing the salaries of workers is no longer meaningful in a country with unstable currency and economy.<\/span><\/p>\n According to Ajaero, a salary of N1 million makes no difference to an average worker, especially considering the hike in food and fuel prices.<\/span><\/p>\n Ajaero said, \u201cEven if Nigerian workers earn \u20a61 million, it will not be meaningful if the naira has no value.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWhat we are looking for is a currency that can sustain workers and their families at least to the end of the month,\u201d Ajaero said.<\/span><\/p>\n The NLC president further stated that the rising cost of living has made life unbearable for workers who have families to feed and care for. <\/span><\/p>\n Also speaking on the incessant rise in the price of fuel, Ajaero expressed concerns that incidents happening in other countries are used as excuses to put Nigerians through financial pains.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt is not ideal that events in other parts of the world automatically translate into hardship in Nigeria,\u201d he warned.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n <\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called on the Federal Government to address the rising cost of living and the impact of inflation on citizens\u2019 well-being.
