The African Independent Television (AIT) has pledged robust media support, including live coverage, for the maiden edition of the Women in Security Summit and Awards (WINSEC) 2026, reaffirming its commitment to promoting initiatives that advance national security and gender inclusion.<\/p>\n
The commitment was made during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), led by its National Chairperson, Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim, who also serves as Chairperson of the WINSEC Central Planning Committee, to the management of Daar Communications Plc, owners of AIT, in Abuja.<\/p>\n

Welcoming the delegation, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of AIT, Chief Marcel Anyanyechi, commended NAWOJ for initiating a platform dedicated to celebrating the courage, sacrifice and outstanding contributions of women in Nigeria\u2019s security architecture.<\/p>\n
He described the Women in Security Summit and Awards as a timely and impactful initiative capable of inspiring patriotism, excellence and renewed commitment among security personnel and other stakeholders involved in safeguarding the nation.<\/p>\n
Chief Anyanyechi stressed that addressing Nigeria\u2019s security challenges requires collaboration among the media, security agencies, government and citizens, emphasizing that national security remains a shared responsibility.<\/p>\n
Speaking on behalf of the Board, Management and Staff of AIT, he assured the WINSEC team of the station\u2019s unwavering support toward the successful hosting of the event.<\/p>\n
According to him, AIT will provide live coverage of the awards segment of the programme to enhance national visibility and audience engagement. The station will also deploy news crews for comprehensive coverage of the summit and awards ceremony.<\/p>\n
Other areas of support include the airing of promotional materials across AIT platforms, scroll message announcements ahead of the event to boost public awareness, as well as technical assistance and professional guidance in producing broadcast-quality promotional content.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will work with you, partner with you and collaborate with you to ensure that the ceremony comes out successful. Those who are making sacrifices for the peace and security of our nation deserve to be recognized and honoured,\u201d Chief Anyanyechi stated.<\/p>\n
He further reiterated AIT\u2019s commitment to promoting national security awareness, public enlightenment and responsible journalism, noting that initiatives such as WINSEC contribute significantly to building a safer and more inclusive society.<\/p>\n
Earlier in her remarks, the National Chairperson of NAWOJ and Chairperson of the WINSEC Committee, Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim, expressed appreciation to the management of AIT for its warm reception and consistent support for the initiative.<\/p>\n
She described WINSEC as a strategic platform aimed at deepening discussions on security, peacebuilding, gender inclusion, leadership and national development, while recognizing women and other individuals making remarkable contributions to Nigeria\u2019s security sector.<\/p>\n
The Women in Security Summit and Awards (WINSEC) 2026, themed \u201cCelebrating Courage, Passion, Loyalty, Commitment and Sacrifice of Women in Securing the Nation,\u201d is scheduled to hold on June 30, 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.<\/p>\n
The summit is expected to bring together key stakeholders from the security, media, governance and civil society sectors to deliberate on issues of national security, gender inclusion and leadership, while honouring distinguished women and other champions contributing to the peace, security and development of Nigeria.<\/p>\n
