The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has reacted to the payment of long-outstanding arrears owed to its members by the Akwa Ibom State Government after several years of delay.<\/p>\n
In a statement on Wednesday, the state NULGE President, Anestina Iweh, said the development had brought significant relief to local government workers across the state.<\/p>\n
According to reports, the Akwa Ibom State Government recently cleared the backlog of arrears owed to local government employees following approval by Governor Umo Eno.<\/p>\n
Reacting to the payment, the union said the gesture had restored confidence in the administration among workers who had waited years for the settlement.<\/p>\n
NULGE described the action as a major milestone in efforts to strengthen the local government system and improve service delivery in the state.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe successful payment of the outstanding arrears is a significant demonstration of the administration\u2019s commitment to workers\u2019 welfare and wellbeing,\u201d the union said.<\/p>\n
