Abia <\/a>State House of Assembly has resolved to invite security chiefs\u00a0 in the State for a critical meeting directed towards confronting the rising security breaches, particularly kidnapping in some parts of the State.\u00a0<\/p>\n This resolution was unanimously passed on\u00a0Tuesday\u00a0during the House of Assembly plenary session.<\/p>\n The House of Assembly\u2019s decision followed a motion contained in \u201ca matter of urgent public importance\u201d presented by the deputy Speaker, Augustine Okezie Mmeregini\u00a0 about the\u00a0 kidnapping of Mr. Dennis Okechi Izuchukwu and Mrs. Onyiyechi Ekechukwu at Umuawa, Alaocha community, Ohuhu, Umuahia North LGA, by suspected\u00a0 gunmen.\u00a0<\/p>\n Augustine Okezie Mmeregini, who described the precarious development as an insurgency of kidnapping and other vices in Abia <\/a>State, called on the House\u00a0 to urge the Abia <\/a>State Homeland Security Agency and\u00a0 sister security agencies of the state to step up their efforts in securing the lives and property of Abia <\/a>people.<\/p>\n The deputy Speaker prayed\u00a0 the\u00a0 House\u00a0 to urge the Mayors of the 17 Local Government Areas in\u00a0 the state to reactivate and strengthen the community vigilant groups in their various LGAs.<\/p>\n He also said that traditional rulers and Presidents-General of the various communities in the State\u00a0 should be\u00a0 encouraged by the Mayors of the LGAs to be vigilant\u00a0 in their various localities, among other prayers.\u00a0<\/p>\n Taking a resolution on the matter, the House presided over by the Speaker, Emmanuel Emeruwa, described\u00a0 the security issues that were\u00a0 raised as very critical.<\/p>\n The parliament supported the the Deputy Speaker\u2019s prayers\u00a0 and\u00a0 resolved to invite security chiefs in the State for an interface.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
